Familiarity breeds contempt

It is true that persons cannot stay alone all of their lives. There are many events in life which they will have to communicate or assassinate with other persons. The social has a normal system for everyone to follow to improve their relationship for small size to large size. The original place is family which is a small size for everyone. It is normal relationship which lack of complicate relation. The next step is school and work place. All of these make person connect and learn another person. In fact, nobody is perfect. They still have some bad personality or character in themselves. However, it takes time for another person to learn, to know and to accept it. Some person would like to say the idiom “Familiarity breeds contempt” when they know other person for a while. It means that when you get to know more something or someone, you get to find more dislike on that thing or that person.

Proposition 8

Proposition 8 is about gay and lesbian married. California should or should not allow gay and lesbian married. Nowadays some groups of them stay together. It doesn’t mean they are a couple for law of California. However, I don’t agree with gay and lesbian married. I don’t mind if they live together. I just concern about the new generation. The new generation may think it is a normal or good relationship to follow. It will be an original problem of confusing themselves who they are. I still think marriage suppose to be by man and woman only.

Harry Potter

Harry Potter is my favorite movie. It is magical story about Harry Potter, an orphan boy, played by Daniel Jacob Radcliffe. Harry Potter lived with his aunt’s family. He has never known story about his parents and his background until he was 17 years old. After he receives his mail from Hogwarts, which is witch school, invite him to study there, he understands exactly that he is a witch. Moreover, he knows that his parent is killed by Lord Voldemort. In addition, Lord Voldemort will be back soon to kill him. He chooses to come to study in Hogwarts because it is safety place for him. During going to Hogwarts, he meets two friends Ron (played by Rupert Alexander Lloyd Grint) and Hermione (played by Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson) in the train. After that, they become his best friends. Harry potter has a lot of experience in Hogwarts. His entire story reflects a relationship between friends, leader of himself, and emotion of normal person. I like the graphic design and the background in this movie.

The different thing Between Goat and Sheep

When I was young, I was always confused how to separate goat and sheep. Since I studied biology, I had known how they differ. Even though both goat and sheep eat vegetable, live on land, and have same products as milk, meat or leather. They still have some different thing which we can identify through their behavior, physics, and biology.
Behavior is the first thing which shows how they are individual BY NAKE EYE. Goats usually like to eat leaves at high position of the trees, or they will eat climbing and woody plants. Moreover, they are very independent, curious and inquisitive. It is normal if they stay alone at grassland. On the other hand, sheep would like to eat leave on the small trees or grasses on the ground. They are sluggish to do everything and scared to stay alone. They always stay together in the huge group to protect them from hunter. These behaviors show the basic personality which is individual. These help us to know what goat or sheep look like at the first point.
Physics is the second thing which shows how goat and sheep are distinct. Both of them have different details in their body such as tail, hair, and horn. Goat’s tail is long and always goes up. It has two curls or straight horns. Furthermore, goat’s hair has never comb because its hair is so straight. In contrast, sheep’s tail always goes down. If we focus on size, sheep’s tail is shorter than goat’s tail because it is cut. Moreover, sheep’s hair usually is cut because it is too curly and very hard to divide by itself. In fact, sheep has two horns as goat, but some types of sheep have curly horn or charm hornless. Physics is the normal thing shows how both goats and sheep are different at the second point.
Biology is the third thing which shows how goat and sheep aren’t similar by their heredity. Even though they are the same family of mammal, both of the m are still different detail such as genus, chromosomes, and voice. Goat is a group of genus Capra Hircus. It has 6o chromosomes, and the sound of its voice is like “Maa”. On the other hand, sheep is a group of genus Ovis Aris. It has 54 chromosomes and the sound of its voice is like “Baa”. Biology shows deeply how unique family they are in third point.
Both goat and sheep look similar, but they still have some various details which we can divide them by three point. First is behavior so that I can see easily by looking at them. Second is physics which it shows how different in their qualities. Third is biology that shows extremely in original position. Now, I will know immediately what animal I see. It is goat or sheep after I contrast them.

Tourism in Thailand

Thailand is one of famous Asia places to travel. Tourists would like to go to temple, beach, and mountain and so on. The famous provinces are Bangkok (a capital of Thailand), Chiang Mai (the north of Thailand) and Phuket (the south of Thailand). Now a day, Thai government creates a lot of activity for available travel in Thailand every season. Thai government wants to encourage tourists focus on Thailand. So after that events are released, there have many new businesses occur in Thailand especially guide tour, bar, hotel, spy for tourist. Then Thailand has been come an entrainment country. However, it is a good benefit for country to gain high income but it still have some problems .The first of problem is some companies are emerged such as bar, spy, and hotel. That make some people in Thailand think education isn’t necessary to study. All of those jobs don’t require high quality but they give high revenue. The second of problem is high packet tour of Thai people travel. For example, if I want to choose to go some place in the south of Thailand, I can’t afford it in the short time because the price is triple, 10 years ago the price is just around $ 200 but now the price is around $ 600. The third of problem is effect of culture. Thailand becomes more free sex, especially, some place which near the entrainment area for tourist. Even though, Thai government begin to do some strictness at bar (such as the open time, the show and the age), it is too late. So one thing they can do to reduce this problem is to focus on old traditional Thailand.

Disneyland & Six Flags

Actually, I had been both of them, Disneyland & Six Flags. Before I went there, I thought Disneyland is as same as Six Flags because they are the place for group of people who want to enjoy with many machine in different park. Moreover, they are famous place for tourist. In fact, they are totally different. First reason is Disneyland isn’t exciting as Six Flags. Disneyland focus on dream and magic for kids, so if I want to find a breathtaking ride, I have never find in here. Even though Disneyland still has a park for adult, it isn’t exciting enough for me. Second reason is Disneyland is a bigger than Six Flags. They have a lot of park for customers which divide around 5 parks in Disneyland town by depending on target of customer. If I want to walk through every park, I have to go there early. Third reason is different feeling. Disneyland I will smile all day with a lot of show or take a picture with my favorite cartoon actor. Six Flags I will scream and laugh all day. However, they are different, I still love it. Hopefully, I will be there again and again.

My First Saturday of September

The first time I think I will stay at home to do my homework on this weekend. Especially, I plan to finish all of my homework on Saturday. So I woke up early in Saturday morning. I woke up around 8.00 am. Before I started doing my homework at 9.00 am, I took a shower and got a good breakfast. I did my homework until 12.30 am. My sister called me to go to have lunch outside with her family. At that time I didn’t know that it was my last time to do homework in this day. The first I didn’t know where we would go to have lunch, but I assumed that we will find some restaurant around Fullerton County. During My sister drove, I asked her that where will we go. My sister told that we would go Thai town at Los Angeles. Her asked make me surprise because it is too late for us to go to Thai town. However, it is too late to change her mind because we had already taken Free way 5. We discussed which Thai restaurant we will go on the long way. We chose some restaurant near Ban Khanom Thai, Thai desserts. After that I though, we would go back home. I was wrong. My sister wanted to go Santa Monica Beach. We walked around Promenade Street until 6.00 pm. After I came home, I was very tired.

First impression at ALP

I had enrolled in ALP, Fullerton for 1 year. I still remembered how nice teachers were, even though in the first day I was very nervous about how to communicate with my teacher and my class mate before I went to study. After I had finished the primary class of this program, I was surprise that everything I assumed it was wrong. I felt the time pass so fast for me in the first day. I was comfortable to communicate with them because the way teachers teach us reducing my pressure and helping her student know each other. However in this semester, I see a lot of thing, changed after I enrolled. Some process is so weird. I think ALP is changed to look international for people who will enroll in the future, but it still looks complicated. The first semester I had enrolled ALP just have 6 level and they didn’t have specific name of each level. Now a day, we have a specific name of it, so when I asked some international friends what they are level they will answer the name. Then I have to compare what they are level in real ALP level. I don’t think it is a good idea to have a specific name because every international student still know where they are after that,even though it look nice and polite.

Introduct Myself

My name is Waraporn Mongkolcharoen. I know my name is a longer name for one person and very hard for international friends to pronunciation, so I have a very easy nickname for my friends to call me, Ann. I have some event about my name. The first time I had taken a TOEFL test in USA, the examiner asked me “Are you from Thailand” because he saw me try to write my name in application which don’t have enough space for my full name. I was very surprise why he knew I came from Thailand I had never met him before. He told that Thai people usually have a long last name so he could assume that I came from Thailand, and it is a truth. I have been here for one year and I live with my sister in Yorba Linda City. It is pretty close Cal State Fullerton.

My pursuit is I want to graduate Master’ Degree in USA. I really want to enroll in MBA program in Cal State Fullerton, but it is still hard for me to get through it. Basically, I have to pass the TOEFL test which Cal State Fullerton requires 570 points for international student. It is very high score for me. Even thought I can pass the TOEFL test in this step, I still have to take one big step, GMAT, before I can apply in this program. GMAT, required around 550 score, is the test for Business and Economic major. Hopefully, I will get through it in the future.

When I have a leisure time, I enjoy cooking, watching and sight seeing. Cooking is my favorite activity because it is the best way for me to escape from my stress moment into relaxes moment in the short period of days. During cooking time, I don’t have to think about my problem which I have to fix it, so I just concentrate and follow the cooking step. Moreover, I would like to try cooking some Thai dessert by researched the dessert recipe in website especially some kinds of Thai dessert I really want to eat but it is hard to find in USA. It is a good idea to cook it by myself. Even though it isn’t delicious like bakery in Thailand, it is better than do nothing.

shaking hand

After I came to The Unite Stated, I have a lot of culture shock experience between Thai culture and American culture. The one of my unacceptable behavior American cultures is shake hand. It is a polite way to begin communicating with another people in here, but Thai culture has never touched each other hands when we meet. We have a special way to show our culture by same purpose but different position of hands. We will put our hands together at our chest and bow our head a little bit to touch our hands. So when I have to meet new American person, I am really uncomfortable to communicate with them especially a guy. The first time, I have to shake my conversation partner hand who is a guy I feel so embarrassed.

My favorite past time activity

Cooking is my favorite leisure activity. While I am cooking food, I really like to smell it. The smell of food is so sweet in pot where you put several sauces. This activity is the best relaxation for me because I just concentrate about the process of cooking only, so I can escape myself for thinking about my problem and my pressure and have a happy time to do it. Normally, I will begin to think what I am going to cook after I finfish to study my last class everyday. The process of my happy time begin during I am driving. It is a beginning of a perfect time for me to choose a menu to cooking everyday. The most important thing of my happy time, cooking, is when I cook for the persons, who I am love, and look at them enjoy with my food.

My spring break pest very fast . The first time, I think I will collect my new vocabulary and finish my novel book. but I didn't have time to do because I always spend time outside or maybe chatting with my friend.

Thai Wedding Day

Thai wedding is special and magical tradition. The most special and interesting part in Thai wedding is the engagement ceremony called “Khan Mark” which take place prior to the wedding. Khan Mark is a ceremony that the groom’s family dances their way to the bride’s home. The groom’s parents has to bring “Sin Sod” to the bride’s parents as they demand such as ring, money, gold, jewelry along with two banana trees, two sugar-cane tree, meats and candy (for good luck). The groom has to pass through many gates that the bride’s family put together. Each gate is made from the gold or silver necklace ropes blocking between the doors. The groom has to make an attempt to pass each gate by bribing the keeper of the gate until gets to the bride. Then the groom will offer the bride’s ring and this considered the end of engagement ceremony. The wedding ceremony starts when the bride and groom receive a blessing from the monk. After the monks finish their blessing, the guests (start with elderly) will pour water on the hand of groom and bride and give them their blessing. In the evening, there will be a wedding reception celebration for the bride and groom. After the dinner reception, the bride and groom will be sent to the room by the elderly and finally the ceremony ends at this point.

My good strategies

My lists of strategies to keep-up my language practice during the spring break are watching movies, shopping at the mall, and reading novel. There are relaxing activities for me, and I can learn how to practice my English language such as pronunciation, structure of sentence and new vocabulary. When I go to watch movies at theater, I actually interest this movie. So it is easy for me to concentrate on the story and learn how to pronunciation correctly during watching it. In addition, I can learn a new vocabulary and conversation while I am shopping at the mall. For example, when I want to buy a new product for my skin, I will go to cosmetic at the mall. The saleswomen will suggest their product very clearly and slowly, so I can listen, communicate and learn new vocabularies. Finally, I can keep up my language by reading novel. It is a good activity because I can remember a correct structure and new phrase because I want to understand the whole of story.

What are your plans for the Spring Break?

My spring break

After I finished a reading quiz, I began to plan what I am going to do on this spring break with my friend at restaurant. I have a lot of plan to do. The first plan, I will go to Poula’s house, and we are going to have BBQ party together on Monday. After than on Tuesday, I will go to visit Mira who is my old friend last semester with Vuong, Tyler and my friends. Then on Thursday, I am going to Sixflags, Magic Mountain, with Peach, Poula and Poula’s friend. We really want to go because I heard a lot about this place. It is very exciting have a lot of roller coasters to play . So I want to go this place before I can’t play it.

Lee Server wrote a very elaborate article about Jackie Chan (the article we read in class). In the article, Server discussed Chan as a unique artist in the display of his cultural identity. Also last Wednesday, we discovered 8 nationalities represented in our classroom. Although there are features that make us unique as an individual, more often than not, our culture plays a big part in our identity.What makes you unique? My cultural identity

My cultural identity displays a part of my life. I was born in Thailand. I grow up with my family which has grandmother, father, mother, two older brothers, and one older sister. I am a youngest sister in this family, so I have to follow the rule and obey who is older than me. Sometime, I had fight with my older sister. My mother would complain us about why we had to fight together because both of you are real sister. If we don’t love each other, it means that nobody will be like both of you. In addition, my mother always told me to help another person especially children and elder. My mother didn’t ignore to help them. I still remember and continue to do it. Although, I may be get a problem after I help them, but I really feel uncomfortable to ignore them. For example, my friend forgot homework at her house which was very important to her for send to her teacher. While we were waiting to study next class, I decided that I had to drive my car to pick up her homework even if we would have oral presentation in 15 minute. The last thing display about my cultural identity is my respectability. I always greet ,which action by raising two hands to touch together and put two hands on the center of my chest and after that slowly bow my head touch my hands ,a person who older than me before I went to school. However, in current I don’t live with them but I still do this action when I see Thai persons who are older than me in Unite States.

My old friend

I still remember the moment time I met my good friends in the first class at ALP. I began to study at ALP in the last summer. The first time, after I knew that I had to study in here, I was very worry about my language how I can communicate with them, how I will manage with a new society and deal with them. After I continued to study one week later, I was very surprise we became a close friend. We had fun together. We laughed and laughed more. I was very happy to study with them. We usually have a small party and watching a movie after we finished quiz every week. In addition, I had had my first party birthday in aboard with my classmate and composition teacher. They sang a birthday song, and we ate a delicious birthday cake. Although, we had a lot of good time to stay together but it was a short time for us to keep contact. After I finished this semester, everybody had to come back home or transfer to another school. I really feel sad in the first weekend because everything will be change. However, I still have a good time with them.

What kinds of movies or books do you like? Choose one movie or book that is your favorite and write about why you like it.

My favorite movie

I usually like to watch comedy and romantic movies. I have a lot of favorite movies, and I still remember the story such as Notting Hill, Coyote Ugly, She’s the man, Music and Lyrics, and Holiday movie that is the most favorite movie. I had watched this movie maybe around 3 times because I really like the main idea of movie. It is about two women who never know each another before chatting together through computers. Both of them have a problem about their boyfriends, so they want to switch their house during the Christmas day. After that, they meet a good experience and excellent relationship with new friends. In the end of movie, they know how to deal with their problem. After I watch this movie, I always smile. I feel if I don’t try to do a new thing which I really want to do and will be changed my life, I won’t never know the end of my story. So, sometime when I am afraid to do a new thing, I usually think about the story of two women. Although, I never know what will be happen in the future, maybe it is a good or a bad thing, but I just try to do and learn the result of it. I think it is better than never try to do anything.

My evaluation

I had talked with my composition teacher in last Friday about my homework. Before I talked with her, I know myself that I still have a lot of mistake when I wrote my paragraph. The reason is I don’t know what my problem is. I think too much how I can write smoothly and clearly paragraph. After I talked with her, I know my problem. Her comment helps me to know what my problem is. It is very helpful to understand a main of my problem and the way of solution. Now, I start to follow the direct way that she suggests me for writing paragraphs. I try to stop translation sentence from Thai language to English language. I begin to think every sentence which I will write by using structure of English. Even though, sometime I have had a problem about using a correct structure of grammar. I think my skill of writing didn’t improve very much in the former half of this semester because I might be absented three weeks in the beginning of this semester. So I didn’t know some important of basic of paragraph. However, it is good enough to improve my writing in the latter half of the semester.

My niece

I have been here with my sister who was pregnancy. After nine months, my sister gave birth to a baby girl. Her name is Alyssa. Her weigh was ten pounds at birth. She was a huge baby girl. She has a black hair like her mother. Normally, her hair is straight but when she is taken a shower, her hair becomes a curly hair like fusilli. She has two big green and gray eyes like her father. Her eyes are very big like an egg of buck. When I see her cheek, it likes splendid tomato. Her lip is red rose on valentine day. Her skin color looks like a mountain in the winter. When she stretches herself, her long straight finger is playing piano. I always hear her cry, but it doesn’t annoy me her voice as same as a cat. When holding her, it like I carry on a heavy pillow. After I come home, I always smell her sweet candy hair and body. I wait to see her grow up step by step from crawling to walking. Every her moment has a lot of amazing event .

My favorite Disneyland ride

I went to Disneyland on last Saturday with American Language Program. It is the first time for me to go this place. It was exciting and amazing. After I played a lot of parks such as Adventure Park, New Orleans Square Park, and Tomorrow Land Park, I meet my favorite ride at the Tomorrow Land Park. It is Space Mountain. The first time, I saw the time to wait for playing Space Mountain. I was very surprise. It was around one hour but I didn’t see many people in the line. I really wanted to know why it takes so long for this ride. After I walked in this ride following the line to the second floor, I saw a lot of people staying in the long line. I tried to find the entrance of this ride which stays so far for me. Now, I know why they told us around one hour. After I waited so long time in the line, I started to play the Space Mountain. It is a little hard for me to describe the first feeling because everything was been beginning very fast. I had to sit in the small machine and went through a dark hole mountain which I couldn’t predict my way to travel. I feel that I traveled in space by following extremely tortuous rail. While I was traveling in dark shadow by up to the top and down to bottom of the ravine, I tried to touch the glittery star during this way. After I find this ride, I really want to play again and again. It is different another ride. It is challenge, unpredictable and freedom. Although, every moment is very fast, but I still remember special moment when I play it.

Park near my school.

Last semester, I had studyed in here. After I finished my class, and I had a freetime, I will go this park which is near my school. The park is near the parking lot G of Cal state fullerton. This place has a full huge trees, a little waterfall, and a small graden on the side line. After you enter this palce by old brown wood bridge, you will walk through the beginning of center of graden. It has a small green and blue river in the center of garden for the flock of bucks to swim and find food. Near the river has a one small classic wood chair. After you walked pass the blue and green river, you will see a lot of activity you can do such as have a pinnic ,read books and take a nap. Moreover,this place is opened everyday. So you just walk to lot G and enter this place. I think this place is very cool . I always relax after I just sit ten minutes near the river.

Taking a bus

When I studied in high school, I had never taken a bus until I was 15 year old. Actually, I really wanted to try to go by bus just one day. I think it is a good experience to see people do everything on the bus. I saw a lot of my friend taking a bus when they came home. One day on Friday, I though that this day was a good first day for me to take a bus. During I studied mathematic, I though a lot of plan to take a bus. After I finished this class, I had talked with my friend about where did we want to go and how did we want to get there. Finally, I suggest my friend that we should go shopping mall near our school and we should take a bus, for it was cheaper than by taxi. After we had finished last class, we would meet at bus station. During I took a bus, I had met a lot of thing on this way. I think it is a good experience to do it. I saw a young man. After he saw an old lady walked in a bus, He immediately stood up for her. I saw a little woman. She carried on a big bag while she stood in the bus. Someone helped her to carry on it. After I know how to take a bus, I usually use this way to go another place. Sometime, I will take a bus when I feel tired. I just want to see that people still continue to work harder than me.

Tsunami in Thailand

The disastrous event in Thailand was Tsunami in Phuket, Krabi,Trang and Ranong which a town in the south of Thailand. Tsunami was the first shock event in my life. In Thailand never have a disaster like this. It happened around 7.58 am on December 26, 2004 while I still slept in my house in Bangkok. After I turned on my television, every channel had news and pictures about Tsunami. I had continued to watch about this news all day. Before Tsunami would happen, people still had a same activity like everyday at the beach. After 7.58 am, all of beach was changed having pieces of wood, fossils and rubbishes spread around area. During this day, I saw every communication in the world tried to help people whom lost their house, their family in Tsunami. After next 2 weeks, I read the report about totals of Thai people is deaths around 5,305 persons and totals of foreigners are deaths around 2,402 persons. This isn’t concluding injury and missing people. I hope that this Tsunami is last large disastrous event in Thailand.

In class, we examined the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We looked at the different past tenses used in a narrative. We also looked at how to write an effective narrative.Write your own version of a fairytale story you remember from your childhood. The rabbit and the turtle

Long time ago on summer day, all of animals in the wood would play together near the river. Today, they had a meeting at mountain. The rabbit was a first person in here. He had waited until he saw the turtle who was the last person came in here. The rabbit complained a lot about why the turtle walked so slowly. After the turtle listened, the turtle got angry. Then, the turtle challenged the rabbit “We have to compete together I want to know who is fastest between the rabbit and the turtle”. The rabbit was really sure that he would win on this competition. Then the rabbit said “I will compete with you because I knew I will win” and then “The object of competition is who will be the first person to stay in a finish line on the next mountain”. All of animals were standing on the sides of line. They were cheering both of them. After the hen blow a whistle, the rabbit was running in front of the turtle. When the rabbit had run far away from the beginning line, he thought that it was impossible the turtle will be winning. Then, the rabbit thought he had enough time to take a nap. He slept until the sun set. After he woke up, he had hurried up to go to mountain. Finally, He stayed at the next mountain but it was very late for him to come here. The turtle was the winner.

My first time in The United States

I never think my life will be changed when I came in the United States. My first time in the United States was happened around 9 months ago. First, I just planed that after I graduated my bachelor degree in Thailand, I would study English language program until spring semester 2007 in here. Before I came here, I prepared myself about Basic English language. It was rule of Grammar but I think that it wasn’t enough to help me to survive in here. I still very shy and worry to speak English and afraid to talk with foreigners. I came here with my older sister who was still sick. It means that I had to do everything for her and me by myself while we were traveling in here. Then, I had to concentrate everything I do during this trip. It was luck that my flight is nonstop, so I didn’t have to transfer at Hong Kong. I spend time in airplane around 15 hours. After I went to immigration in the United States, I had to answer all of questions for my sister and me. When I finished everything in airport, I walked out side with 4 huge suitcases. I met Tummy who my older brother friend. She picked us up at airport and went to her house. I have stayed with her until now. After my summer semester began in June 2007, my sister went back to Thailand. During this time, I had to learn to do everything by myself.
