Learning English Language

In 2007, people start to learn second language more than the past that over 1 billion people are currently learning English world wide. They want to have a good quality life. Then they realize that English is an international language, for country they usually uses English language to communicate together. There are three reasons to learn English. These include promotions at work, increased knowledge, and travel benefit.

The first reason to learn English is promotions at work. It is the fact that English skill is important for find job. If they can speak English which is second language very well, they are the first persons that the company will consider of vacant position of company. Then they will receive high salary and good position. They don’t have problem to communicate with foreign partner or to visit in abroad.

The second reason to learn English is increased knowledge. They can study dissertation abroad to do their project such as science, biology, and business. Then they can receive express news in abroad by internet or CNN channel on TV. For example, the investor will read news about trend of international economic that has affected their stock.

The third reason to learn English is travel benefit. They can save money because the price for travel abroad by packet tour is more expensive than travel by themselves. They can choose to save money of hotel and food while they travel abroad. They have more freedom because they don’t have problem to communicate with other. They can travel Europe, American and Australia. All of these countries speak English. They will receive. Guide tours usually have same program tour, so they don’t go some interesting place. They can go by themselves in this place.

In conclusion, learning English is good opportunity in their life. It has been affected in future. They can get good position and high income. They have several channels to research new information. They can decrease of business by following international news. They have more experience to travel.

The 3 day weekend

I had 3 day weekend because Monday is Veteran day. The first time, I didn’t have plan to go outside on this weekend. I just wanted to clean my home on Saturday and read textbook for TOEFL test on Sunday. I hope that everything will follow my plan. Something of my plan changed a little bit on Sunday. My sister wanted to eat Thai breakfast. It call Joke which is a rice gruel soup cooked with meal. Then I went to eat Joke at LA. After then, I went to buy books and vegetable at Thai town. Finally, I came home around 5 pm, so I did not read grammar textbook on Sunday.

The Ring

A student, Mary, wanted to rent an apartment, so she walked all day long and finally found an old apartment. She decided to rent it because it was cheaper than the others. She moved into the apartment and settled everything as usual. One week later, she had a worker install a telephone line. However, she found that the phone didn’t work well. She couldn’t call for anyone and the phone never rang. So she decided to all a repairman to fix the phone line, but at the same time she got a phone call from an old lady who asked to speak to someone named Lucy. Mary told her that she had the wrong number. After that day, the old lady kept calling every night at the same time and always asked for Lucy. One day at midnight, the phone was ringing again. Mary finally couldn’t stand it, so she decided to pull the wire from the wall. She immediately moved the sofa away and looked for the plug. However, after she found it, she noticed that the wire was not plugged in. Mary wondered how this was possible. Then the phone rang again. She nervously answered the phone. The old woman asked for Lucy. Mary asked who Lucy was. The old woman said, “Look behind you.”

ALP had Halloween Dance Party at TSU Pub on last Saturday. I went to the party with my friend, Peach. The Halloween party was 8.30 pm to midnight. After I went into the party, I saw a lot of people. Some people came in as a ghost. Someone did not wear Halloween costume, but they just wore normal clothes. I met some of my classmate and my professors such as Tyler, Carol, Van, Gloria, Dung, Ozgur, Kaitlyn and Choae. We enjoy eating, taking photo and dancing together. I left around 11 pm with Peach. I think that the Halloween party is amusing. I had never been the party like this before I came here. In my opinion, I think Carol costume is the scariest.

If I can go Las Vegas, I will go to play casino in hotel and walk around Main Street to watch various style of hotel. Many hotels are interesting, because it has a special style to attract tourist. For example, some of hotels create roof of hotel like the real sky. It is changed every hour from daylight to night. Some of hotels have river in hotel, and I can sit in boat to flow the river. If I have enough time, I will go to watch many shows as magic show by David Copperfield. At night, I will walk to see show of many hotels such as spring dancing and active volcano. After I walked around here, I will play slot machine at hotel.

Thai boxing and Badminton are sports

Although Thai boxing and Badminton are sports, there are different of style of playing. Both of sports have 2 persons to fight together in one game. People usually play in door. They will count point each match by period of limit time. In contrast, Thai boxing doesn’t use equipment to fight, but Badminton use racket to fight. During play Badminton game, competitor can’t touch together. They have to stand between net of Badminton and shuttle ball over net. Thai boxing have to touch together and fall opponent. In conclusion, Thai boxing and Badminton are different of rule to play sports.

McDonalds and KFC

Although McDonalds and KFC are favorite fast food restaurant, there are unlikeness. One difference is main menu. When you order menu, almost both restaurants have same of ingredients in menu such as bread, meat, and beverage. In the fact, KFC normally stress about chicken more than McDonalds. Second difference is the way of order. Both of restaurants spread around city, so it is easy to find the place and to order menu. Sometime, if you feel lazy to go out side, you can call to order menu at KFC. KFC is comfortable to eat lunch more than McDonalds. Third difference is crowd of people. Both of restaurants have a lot of people. When the families want to eat lunch together, they usually will choose McDonalds. McDonalds almost have toy for kids. It attract that the parents can relax while their child play toy. In conclusion, McDonalds and KFC are favorite food where the first choice of fast food restaurant for people.

Almost Thai people know about King of Thailand made a difference. His name is Bhumibol Adulyadeej. He did a lot of projects to help Thai people. Almost all of the projects made a difference in the rural areas. Many rural areas of Thailand have floods so transportation was a problem. He created a project to help and keep a lot of water by designing the shape of the embankment like a monkey cheek. So it can keep more water now and has been spread around Thailand. In 2000, Thailand had a problem with its economy. He thought of a new theory to help people during a period of down economy. It is called "self-sufficiency economy". It is about using money and everything in your lives balance with your income. For instance, your revenue is $100 so you can spend money $25 and keep $75 for other things. You shouldn’t buy expensive shirt because you can wear simple shirt. You can grow simple vegetables. It is cheaper than buying it at a supermarket. He is a leader to do it. After that Thai people bring his theory to adjust with their lives. In conclusion, he has a lot of missions made difference in country. Thailand could be passed a calamity by him.

Sweet and sour eggs ( Kai Look Kuey )

My favorite dish is easy to cook. You just have eggs, oil, red onion, water, fish sauce, sweet palm seeds, and lime. After preparing material, boil 5 eggs around 15 minutes. Then shell eggs, and frying in heat oil until it brown. Before put eggs on the dish, you have to cut eggs in half. Then, put 10 pieces of eggs on the dish. Next, prepare the sauce by boiling half cup of water in frying pan. Then, mix 1 tablespoon fish sauce, 3 tablespoon sweet palm seeds, and 1 tablespoon lime juice, and put the mixture on the pan. You should lower the heat and stir it until the sauce become stick. After that, pour the sauce over the top of 10 pieces of eggs. Finally, stir-fry sliced red onion until light brown and sprinkle on the top of 10 pieces of eggs. Sweet and sour eggs ready to serve with streamed rice.

The solution of over weight is following these steps. You will lose 10 pounds in two days. The first step you have to wake up early to exercise such as running, swimming and aerobics around 1 hour in the morning. Before eat breakfast, you must drink 1 cup of water. After you eat banana and yogurt fat free, you drink 1 cup of water again. The next step you should try to walk around during the day. Before eat lunch 1 hour, you must drink 2 cups of water. You should try to eat less meat and eat more salad. Try to eat fish or chicken as lunch not dinner. Then you have to drink 3-4 cups of water during the day. The final step is to start eating dinner early around 5 pm. Before taking dinner 1 hour, you must drink 2 cups of water. You can choose to eat steam fish with green apple or salad with a few piece of ham. After 6pm, stop to eat everything except water only. If you follow these steps in 2 days, you will lose your weight.

Don’t wear high-heeled shoes

My most embarrassing moment began when I studied bachelor degrees at University in Thailand. That day, I had many activities to do, and I wore my new high-heeled shoe. I thought that it was as high as my old shoes. After I finished the last class, I ate lunch with my friends. My friends decided to eat at the restaurant near University because we had to go back to University to continue doing project. I felt uncomfortable with the restaurant. I didn’t want to go to that restaurant because it has a high steep spiral staircase. I didn’t have a choice, so I had to go with them. I walked carefully to second floor. After I finished lunch, we forgot appointment with our teacher, so we hurried back to University. While I walked from middle of second floor to first floor, my high-heeled shoes hook with the end of steep staircase. I fell down to the first floor and everybody looked at me. I am very embarrassed. My friends brought me to the health center. I had a small wound on my left hand. Since that accident, I try not to wear the high-heeled shoes again. I worry every time when I have to wear it. It is an embarrassing story, I can’t forget it.

Universal Studios

I went to the Universal Studios with ALP on Saturday. Before I took the trip, I hope that I can take picture with Shrek. My friends and I began to play the House of Horrors before we went down to play the Mummy. The Mummy is the second of my favorite place. Luckily, the line of the Mummy wasn’t long, so we had a lot of time to go around. We went to play Jurassic Park, which locate next to the Mummy. I remembered that I got wet during floating through the waterway. Actually, I didn’t want to play Jurassic Park. I couldn’t go out because I stayed in center of the line. When I played, I protected myself with my jacket and sunglass. My upper part of my body got wet a little bit, but my pants were very wet. After I ate lunch, I went to watch Shrek 4-D. It is my favorite place for me. I tried to see Shrek, but I didn’t see him. At the end of the day, I went to the Legendary Studio Tour. We spent a lot of time here because the line was very long. After that, we waited other ALP students outside. While I was walking, my friends saw Shrek. Suddenly, I ran into the line to take a picture with him. Finally, I took the picture with Shrek.

Most people don’t realize the results of eating fruits and vegetables. The numerous reasons of eating fruits and vegetables are keep you healthy, protect your sickness and control your weight. First, the fruits and vegetables are good for your health because they contain a lot of vitamin necessary for your body. For example Vitamin A in carrot, pie apple, and papaya contain a chemical substance that helps you to see well in the dark. Second, the fruits and vegetables protect your sickness such as cancer. If you eat tomatoes, watermelon, and papaya everyday, they will help you to reduce a free radicals sourcing of cancer. They have a lot of lycopene that protected body from free radicals. Third, losing your weight by eating the fruits and vegetables is the best way to diet. They have a lot of vitamins, fiber, and mineral salt but they don’t give energy for body such as protein and carbohydrate. So your body can remove and burn a part of energy in extended body. My bedroom in The United States

When I first came to USA, I could not imagine what my bedroom will look like. The next thing that I can remember about my new bedroom was I stood in front of it. Then I walked through the white door, and I saw a big fair bed on the left corner of the room. The bed was covered with a bright blue with pink flowers bedspread. I can see beautiful jasmines and modest garden through the window between a big fair bed and white desk. The white desk on the right corner had a lot of new several books keeping on 3 shelves. A modern white desk lamp was kept on the second shelf of the white desk. A brown square cushion was on the white chair under the space desk. The large white dressing table next to the white desk had 3 wide drawers to keep my coats. On the top of the white dressing table have a small blue radio and a small shining black telephone in the center. After I was walking near furniture. The wallpaper around bedroom screened with light blue cloud scattering in the sky with a little Winnie the Poohs sitting under the big trees. While I sat on a big fair bed, I move my eyesight around my bedroom. I saw a medium luxurious TV across my bed in the center of the wall. It looks like a kid or baby bedroom to me.

Wedding Day

Thai wedding is special and magical tradition. The most special and interesting part in Thai wedding is the engagement ceremony called “Khan Mark” which take place prior to the wedding. Khan Mark is a ceremony that the groom’s family dances their way to the bride’s home. The groom’s parents has to bring “Sin Sod” to the bride’s parents as they demand such as ring, money, gold, jewelry along with two banana trees, two sugar-cane tree, meats and candy (for good luck). The groom has to pass through many gates that the bride’s family put together. Each gate is made from the gold or silver necklace ropes blocking between the doors. The groom has to make an attempt to pass each gate by bribing the keeper of the gate until gets to the bride. Then the groom will offer the bride’s ring and this considered the end of engagement ceremony. The wedding ceremony starts when the bride and groom receive a blessing from the monk. After the monks finish their blessing, the guests (start with elderly) will pour water on the hand of groom and bride and give them their blessing. In the evening, there will be a wedding reception celebration for the bride and groom. After the dinner reception, the bride and groom will be sent to the room by the elderly and finally the ceremony ends at this point.

Today, I was selected as a possible juror (someone who performs jury duty). However, the court decided that they already had enough jurors. Part of me wishes that I could have participated in the case to see what it is like in the courtroom. However, part of me is glad that I don't have to miss class (because of my wonderful students and also the money).In America, the legal system includes lawyers, judges, and jurors. How does the legal system work in your country? Who decides whether a person is innocent or guilty?

The legal system is different between Thailand and the United States. For example, in Thailand, we use civil law which includes lawyers, judges and the law codes as well as case study in the past in the legal system. In contradictory, the United States uses common law which includes lawyers, judges, and jurors in legal system. In addition, in Thailand, judge is the one who decides whether a person is innocent or guilty. Judge decides a case of guilty or innocent by using legal provision and case study in the past. In United States, Jurors decide whether a person is innocent or guilty court by judgment from facts. The judge controls the investigation in the court.

My friend

Friend is someone who spends time with me and becomes part of my memory or my life. Friend can be separated by type of relationships such as colleague, acquaintance, and close friend. First, a colleague is a person we meet in a company or University. We have the same goal, contribute to the same activities, and work together in the same project in a certain period of time to be successful in our career or study. Second, acquaintance is a person who has a free time that we can enjoy activities together such as playing sport, shopping, traveling, and eating. You may spend more time with acquaintances; however, you may not know their personal details. You still have fun and laugh with them. Third, a close friend is a person who knows your secrets, understands your personality, and shares a lot of experiences with you. For example, I don’t have a chance to go out with my close friend in Thailand or share the same activity with her while I am studying in the United States. However, I never forget to keep in touch with her by e-mail.

Dreams will come true

My dream vacation is to travel to Maldives. Maldives is an island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. I think it is a beautiful paradise for tourists that should be visited at least once in my life. Tourists can choose a special style of your resort to relax because it has a lot of different concepts of resorts in here. I will choose a resort that is on the sea and water passes under the resort. All day, the sky is blue and clear. The sea is very clear. I will sit outside read novels while watching the marine animals and algae float under water. Then, I will turn on classical music and sleep. If I have free time maybe I will dive in the water or walk around.

My special dinner

On Saturday morning, while I ate breakfast with my sister, I thought of a plan to cook a suki yaki for dinner. We thought we had suki sauce in our refrigerator. We had never cooked a suki yaki since I have been in here. So I thought it would be a good idea to cook suki yaki. Soon we found a Thai cook book. After that, we checked for raw materials in the refrigerator. Then we knew that we should just buy vegetables and meat at Costco. After we went to buy the food, we began to prepare our meat. My sister sliced chicken, pork and beef meanwhile I cleaned the vegetables. Before dinner began, we found that we didn’t have a suki sauce. It is the main material for suki yaki, but it is only sold at the Thai market. It is far from my house, so I spent a lot of time to go black to the supermarket again. Finally, we sat down to eat dinner at 7.30 pm. we were very hungry. At same time we brought the raw meat and vegetable out of the refrigerator and put hot water in a large pot. Cooking suki yaki you had to drop the raw meat and vegetable into the hot water until the food is cooked. Once, it is cooked, we eat it with a suki sauce. Suki yaki is very delicious, it looks like soup. It is spicy, sweet and sour. We continued to eat and talk until 9.00 pm. After that, we put everything in the dishwasher to clean and went to sleep. We enjoyed eating the suki yaki very much. I think that we will cook again.

My Driver license

My first driving experience in The United States began when I knew my way to Cal State Fullerton. Since my house is far from Fullerton and my sister have to go to work during the weekday, so my sister told me that I have to drive to school by myself. So I need driver license to drive. The problem is I am not a good driver. My sister took me to take the writing test at DMV in Fullerton. First, officer asked me to show passport. Then I took the photo and took the writing test. After I passed a writing test, I had to test a driving test in the next 2 weeks. I had to practice my driving skill everyday before I took the test. My friend told me that DMV in Fullerton is very hard. I worried about my driving test all the time. On the test day, I went to DMV to take the driving test at 1.30pm. I was so excited, and I didn’t think that I will pass the test. I drove my car on the test way and wait for examiner until 3.00 pm. Then I drove my car as the examiner instructs me. After I finished the test, the examiner told me that I passed the diving test. I was so happy that I passed it. The driving test experience is good. I passed it within one time. What is your favorite season? Write a paragraph.

My favorite season is spring. In spring, everything for me is beginning. Students start to study at a high level, graduates start to work in companies and flowers start to bud on the trees. Everything is beautiful to me. The period of day is longer than the night. I have a lot of time to do everything, such as do my homework at the library, play games with my friend and window shop at the mall. I can come home late because the sun doesn,t set until 8.00 pm ,so it isn’t dangerous for me when I drive my car. At night the weather is very cool. I feel comfortable and relaxed during my sleep. After I wake up, I have energy to do everything during long day of spring.

Hello, how are you? My name is Waraporn Mongkolcharoen. I study level 4C at ALP. Could you help me to change the class schedules because I have a problem with time allowed for our lunch break. I have a grammar class to study at 11.30-12.45 pm. So, I cannot participate with other students of ALP at Fun Lunch 11.00 – 12.30 pm on the HC Lawn. I have just 30 minutes to eat lunch and enjoy with them. But I want to be able to communicate with them. If I have more time to go here, I think that my english skill can improve. Because I can talk with staff American and other. I hope that you will help me with my problem.

Write a paragraph about a person who has made a difference.

Almost Thai people know about King of Thailand made a difference. His name is Bhumibol Adulyadeej. He did a lot of projects to help Thai people. Almost all of the projects made a difference in the rural areas. Many rural areas of Thailand have floods so transportation was a problem. He created a project to help and keep a lot of water by designing the shape of the embankment like a monkey cheek. So it can keep more water now and has been spread around Thailand. In 2000, Thailand had a problem with its economy. He thought of a new theory to help people during a period of down economy. It is called "self-sufficiency economy". It is about using money and everything in your lives balance with your income. For instance, your revenue is $100 so you can spend money $25 and keep $75 for other things. You shouldn’t buy expensive shirt because you can wear simple shirt. You can grow simple vegetables. It is cheaper than buying it at a supermarket. He is a leader to do it. After that Thai people bring his theory to adjust with their lives. In conclusion, he has a lot of missions made difference in country. Thailand could be passed a calamity by him.

My favorite sport

Do you know that picking a favorite sport is hard for me? Because I rarely play sports. Although I don’t like to play sports very much, I still have a favorite sport and that is Gymnastics. When I have free time, I like to watch it on The Olympics Games or on The Asian Games. Do you know about gymnastics? It is a beautiful and amazing sport for me. I think that gymnasts have to use much concentration to control their body and emotions when they compete. The gymnasts show both the vigorous and delicacy of gymnasts’ body at a moment in time. I think it is hard to do because, they show with the use of equipment and control everything, include following music during a competition. If you want to play it, you should start to play as early as 4 years old. Children adapt to the moment is better than adults. The result of gymnast is good personality.

My name is Waraporn Mongkolchareon(Ann). I was born in Bangkok, Thailand. I have two brothers and one sister. I can speak English and Thai language. I like to eat Thai food. It is good for health.In 2006, I graduated from Bangkok University. My major was finance. When I studied in here, I became a sectary of finance activity. In 2006, I became staff of Rejoe Business Bangkok University. I worked in here around 3 months. In 2007, I move in USA because I have studied ALP, Fullerton. I want to pass TOFEL and GMAT. And then I want to become a student in Fullerton University. My goal graduate MBA in here.
